Just sat in on MS parent orientation this weak. Along w/my daughters zest for transition, Iwas pretty confident up to that point. I left rather anxious about the level of independence, academic expectations, and social distraction this rising 6 th grader would soon face. And, Then there are the behind the scene discussions among parents about whether legacy kids are prepared to compete with their counter parts who enter pvt ind MS from public and charter. Would like some back stories and best practices from parents w/students who have made the transition and lived to tell about it!

Elon received a great summer reading set of books from RCS Middle School to enjoy over the summer...thoughtful and so strategic!
Next weekend RCS Students of Color Society(SOCS) will continue to celebrate the moving up ceremony for 5th graders to the middle school with the POC (Parents of Color) and Community Development from the MS. Families from both campuses will get together for an informal BBQ to share wisdom and wit of MS-a behind the scenes "if I knew I would have" or "if I were you I would" conversation...I am all ears!
